MTG Deadpool Secret Lair Drop 2026

Magic: The Gathering’s Newest Secret Lair Drop is… a Bit Underwhelming

Secret Lair Drops are usually associated with some nice-looking cards that are at the very least visually, better versions of their normal versions, and a lot of them are iconic cards, powerful, even.

Then there’s the Secret Lair x Marvel I Fixed It (You’re welcome) drop, which is supposed to be a set of cards that Deadpool reimagined by “fixing” them. Here’s the list.

  • Deadly Dispute
  • Lightning Bolt
  • Lightning Greaves
  • Mountain
  • Sol Ring
  • Thrill of Possibility

Now, the financial value of cards above isn’t exactly on the high side, which brings up the question of whether it was even worth coming out with this set, or perhaps, did they take it just a bit too far with this one? (in other words, a blatant cash grab that devaluates the reputation of the brand?).

On the positive side, the set is expected to come with a bonus card – Deadpool, Trading Card. This card lets you swap its text box with another creature’s, which is a very powerful ability to have, especially in Commander. The retro look of the card has its appeal, but not everyone will like it.

Is this enough to save the set? I’m not so sure. I applaud the artist’s talent, but in general, I only see this is a lazy attempt to get some bucks in. I mean, Secret Lair is all about noteworthy cards with fancy art, or is it supposed to? What’s next? We’re just going to get tokens? They included a mountain, of all cards. I play red, so don’t say I hate the color. It’s just that for a set with such a reputation, I didn’t expect that.

Also, this kind of chaotic alteration of the normal versions, for me, isn’t exactly enough to put them in their own Secret Lair Drop. Maybe it’s better to, for example, have Deadpool wear a boots and a ring for Lightning Greaves and Sol Ring? Just an example.

Well, we’ll definitely see how this Secret Lair Drop holds out. I’m sure there’s an audience for this, but I’m not one of them.
