Prelude: Strixhaven University Welcomes New Students Amid Post-Invasion Renewal

Strixhaven University, the premier magical institution on Arcavios, opens its doors to a fresh class of mages eager to master the arcane arts. Founded over 700 years ago by five elder dragons, the university continues to draw talent from across the Multiverse despite recent scars from the Phyrexian Invasion.

A Legacy Rebuilt After Devastation

The Phyrexian Invasion left much of Strixhaven’s campus in ruins, suffering from significant faculty losses and damaged structures like the Biblioplex. Memorials honor the fallen, while newly appointed deans lead research fields. Students also faced disruptions, some shortening studies for careers, while others extending them in pursuit of deeper knowledge. Recovery efforts also highlight the university’s resilience, adapting magic and traditions to new realities.

Embracing the Multiverse Through Omenpaths

Omenpaths have transformed Strixhaven, connecting Arcavios to the wider Multiverse and sparking xenoplanar studies in every college. Arcavios sees frequent Omenpath fluctuations, fueling debates on opportunities versus invasion risks. Off-plane students and professors from rivals like Tolarian Academies and Prism University have now enrolled, promoting competition for top mages. The Path Ward committee vets travelers, monitors paths, and prevents accidents to safeguard the campus.

The Five Colleges: Pillars of Dichotomous Magic

Strixhaven’s five colleges each explore clashing mana colors.

  • Silverquill, the College of Eloquence (white-black), delves into language magic for inspiration or insult, studying linguistics, law, and journalism; students intern at diplomatic sites like the Forum of Amity, founded by dragon Shadrix Silverquill.
  • Prismari, the College of Elemental Arts (blue-red), fuses art and elements in spectacles, covering performance and philosophy; they host Summitfest at Spectacle Summit.
  • Witherbloom, the College of Essence Studies (black-green), harnesses life-death forces for healing or curses, with a focus on alchemy and biomancy; field sites include Titans Grave, a titan corpse teeming with unique flora.
  • Lorehold, the College of Archaeomancy (red-white), summons history via order-chaos duality, delving into archaeology; they study restless spirits at Fields of Strife.
  • Quandrix, the College of Numeromancy (green-blue), mathematizes nature with fractals, pursuing engineering; Paradox Gardens tests reality-warping theories.

Arcavios: From Blood Age to Mystic Era

Arcavios formed in the Dawning Age from merged demi-planes Ezroi and Karudis, knotting mana into dichotomies and birthing snarls, star arches, and archaics—ancient beings born from dead oracles’ souls, now rampaging erratically. The Blood Age’s wars ended when founder dragons created Strixhaven, ushering the Mystic Age of mage dominance. The Vastlands continent hosts key sites: Proximate Snarls empower colleges, Feradorn Abyss echoes with songstone, Whipsteppe yields alchemical flowers.

Extracurriculars, Graduates, and Dragonsguard

Campus life thrives with clubs like Strixhaven Star journalism, Prismari Players auditions, and Witherbloom Foraging Collective. Graduates join communities, research, or elite Dragonsguard, aiding founder dragons in preserving peace. Pathwardens and Arcavios Preservation Society combat invasion threats.
